Incontinence-associated dermatitis (IAD) is a skin condition in individuals who are incontinent and results in inflamed, excoriated, infected and broken skin causing pain and discomfort, and an increased risk of pressure ulcers.

1 There are guidelines recommending the use of foam cleansers, as cleaning with soap and water can irritate delicate skin. A protective barrier can also be used to prevent sensitive skin from deteriorating further.
