As a podiatrist, you cannot avoid it: scalpel blades are used every day in a podiatry practice. Traditionally, Swann-Morton has been the market leader in scalpel blades. Romed scalpel blades are less well known, but they also supply all types of sterile blades. The blades are available in various sizes, from size 10 to 24. There are also specially shaped blades, such as stitch cutters, which are used to cut through tough sutures.

Podiatrists in the Netherlands mainly use Swann-Morton 10 and Swann-Morton 15. In Belgium, podiatrists also frequently use Swann-Morton 23. Size 15 blade is suitable for removing small areas of calluses and irregularities. Size 10 blade is used for larger areas of calluses.
